Choco Rum Brownie

Do you like brownies??? How about adding little rum to it??? Hmmmm... Yummilicious rite?? I really love rum flavoured chocolates, puddings and cakes. It smells so good and it tastes awsome. I tried this out recently and it was very rummy yummy. It was an experiment, so I made very less quantity, hardly few pieces. It was so good that I and ma Mom finished it all.

  1. All purpose flour : 1cup
  2. Baking powder : 2 tsp
  3. Cocoa powder : 3 tbsp
  4. Powdered sugar : 1 cup
  5. Instant coffee powder : 1/4 tsp
  6. Butter : 100 g
  7. Egg : 3 Nos
  8. Rum : 2 tbsp
  9. Vanilla essence : 1 tsp
  10. Milk 6 tbsp
  11. Dry fruits soaked in rum(Cashew nut, raisins, cherries etc) : 1/4 cup


  1. Sieve flour and baking powder.
  2. Blend the butter and sugar well till it becomes fluffy.
  3. Add eggs to it and blend well in a medium speed with electric blender.
  4. Add the mixture of flour and baking powder to it.
  5. Mix cocoa powder, coffee powder and milk together. Add it to the batter and blend well.
  6. Add vanilla essence and rum to the batter and mix it.
  7. Finally add soaked dry fruits and just mix it up with a spoon.
  8. Preheat the oven at 180 degree C.
  9. Grease your cake tin and base it up with butter paper.
  10. Pour the batter into it and bake for 45 minutes.
  11. Cut it into square pieces.

  • I usually keep dry fruits soaked in rum so that I can use it up whenever I bake cake. It is better to use the dry fruits which were soaked in rum for atleast 1 week. Longer the soaking period, better the flavour.
  • Oven settings vary according to the brand. The settings given in this recipe is the standard one and is what I follow. You can make changes according to your oven.
  • To know whether your bake is ready, insert a tooth pick at the centre. If it comes out clean it means that your cake is baked.
